Job Description

Location: In-Person, Sugar Land, Texas 77478

Pay: Set your own rate

Type: Contract

About the Role:

SiSTEM is hiring experienced math tutors to work with motivated students and families in the Houston area. This is not a volume tutoring gig. Our tutors work as trusted academic partners with families who value expertise, helping students build real understanding, stronger problem-solving strategies, and confidence in math at every level. If you can tutor any of the following, we want to hear from you:

Elementary Math (Grades K–5):

• Number sense and arithmetic.
• Fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Word problems and early problem-solving.
• Multiplication and division fluency.
• Introduction to geometry and measurement.

Middle School Math (Grades 6–8):

• Pre-Algebra
• Algebra I
• Ratios, proportions, and probability
• Integers, expressions, and equations
• Geometry fundamentals

High School Math (Grades 9–12):

• Algebra I and II
• Geometry
• Trigonometry
• Pre-Calculus
• Calculus (AB and BC)
• Statistics and Probability

Advanced and Honors-Level Math:

• Honors and Pre-AP Math
• AP Calculus AB / BC
• AP Statistics
• IB Mathematics
• Dual Credit College Math

Test Prep Math Sections:

• SAT Math
• ACT Math
• STAAR Math (Grades 3–8 and End-of-Course)
• TSI Math
• ISEE / SSAT Quantitative Sections
• GED Math

You do not need to tutor every level. If you specialize in elementary math only, or AP Calculus only, or anything in between, we want you on our team.

About SiSTEM:

SiSTEM is an academic guidance platform that builds personalized roadmaps for students in grades K–12. Every student on SiSTEM has a plan. Tutors are a key part of that plan and are matched to students based on specific needs, not random availability.

We started as a tutoring agency in Texas, grew to 300+ tutors serving 10,000+ students, and are now launching a platform that gives educators better tools, better-matched students, and the ability to build a real client base.

What You'll Do:

• Work one-on-one with students in grades K–12 to provide focused math instruction at their level.
• Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just finish homework.
• Build number sense, problem-solving strategies, and mathematical confidence.
• Identify and close gaps in foundational skills that are holding students back.
• Align your sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
• Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
• Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.

What We're Looking For:

We are selective about who joins the SiSTEM team.

Strong candidates typically have:

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in math.
• Deep expertise in at least one of the math levels listed above.
• Experience working with motivated students who are in honors, Pre-AP, AP, gifted, or test prep settings.
• A track record of helping students improve grades, build confidence, or master concepts they previously struggled with.
• Clear, patient communication and the ability to make math click for students who think they're "not a math person."
• Professional reliability.

Bonus: current or former math teachers, engineers or STEM professionals who tutor, educators with degrees in mathematics or math education, tutors with experience teaching multiple grade bands.

Why Tutors Join SiSTEM:

• You set your own rates. And you keep 100% of what you earn.
• Matched with students who fit your expertise. No random assignments. Students are matched to you based on subject, grade level, learning needs, and your teaching strengths.
• Bring your current students with you. Already have clients? Add them to the platform for free. Use SiSTEM's tools to manage your existing students alongside new ones at no extra cost.
• Families are already invested. SiSTEM parents are paying for a plan. They're engaged, responsive, and serious about their child's growth.
• We handle the marketing. You don't have to find clients. We bring families to you.
• Tools to manage your business. Scheduling, session tracking, and student relationship tools built into the platform.
• Build a long-term client base. Students on SiSTEM stay for years, not weeks.
