Role Overview This is a great entry-level role for someone interested in editorial work, healthcare communications, or project coordination. The assistant editor will help keep projects organized and moving forward while gaining hands-on experience in editing, communication, organization, and project management. Employment Type Part-Time Independent Contractor Location Fully Remote Key Responsibilities & Management Helping coordinate assignments for freelance writers, editors, and medical reviewers Tracking deadlines and following up on outstanding work Entering and updating project information in Jira Making sure articles are in the correct workflow stage and continuing to move through the editorial pipeline Reaching out to physicians by email or LinkedIn about medical review opportunities Lightly editing pages after medical review and completing a final check before copy editing Building and formatting pages in WordPress Updating project trackers and organizing files in Google Sheets, Drive, and Docs Helping organize payment information, release forms, and other contributor paperwork Assisting with other editorial and administrative tasks as needed Qualifications The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable communicating with different contributors. Experience with Google Workspace is preferred. Familiarity with Jira or WordPress would be helpful but is not required, as training can be provided.
